I’ve used both Kajabi and Uteach to identify the key differences that make each platform stand out. While both tools have overlapping features, they’re made for two distinct types of creators:

What is Kajabi?
“Leading the LMS pack”💪🐕‍🦺

Kajabi was founded in 2010 by Kenny Reuter and Travis Rosser after facing monetization issues on YouTube. It’s an independent platform for entrepreneurs that want to monetize their passion and achieve success online. And it’s been largely successful — helping its users make over $4 billion in sales since its inception.

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform that provides centralized and integrated tools for all your business activities. It helps you create, promote, and sell online courses and other knowledge-based products. Furthermore, it provides the tools to effectively manage and monetize the communities that arise from your product sales. The advanced chat service, virtual meetups, challenges, and forums all work together to keep your customers engaged.

Kajabi is best for infopreneurs, tutors, and professionals that need a fully-customizable website to serve as a central hub for their knowledge-based business.

What is Uteach?
“Monetize your expertise and keep 100%” 🤝💯

Uteach’s most prominent promise is to help create your own branded teaching website with all required features in less than two minutes. As a fairly young learning platform, founded in 2020, Uteach has certainly proven its worth as it’s been selected to join the 500 Global Accelerator program, which will help them grow even further.

Uteach is a one-stop shop for building your own custom teaching website with all the necessary features to get you earning money from sharing your knowledge. Built on automation, Uteach allows you to save up to 70% of your time for managing your course. No matter if your objective is to build your business, automate the online teaching process, switch from offline to online learning, or earn passive money through video courses. In every case, Uteach is the right choice.

Uteach is best for low-ticket and beginning creators looking for a bare-bones course creation solution that will provide everything you need for a jumpstart.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Pricing

Kajabi offers more features for a higher price but limits products based on the plan, while Uteach is more affordable and allows unlimited students and courses.

Both have a 14-day free trial, but Uteach doesn’t ask for card details.

Both Kajabi and Uteach provide free trials, but neither platform offers a free plan. Kajabi offers a 14-day free trial that requires you to provide card details. However, by joining through our affiliate link, you get a 30-day free trial 😉

On the other hand, Uteach offers a 14-day free trial without the need to provide card details. So you won’t have to set any reminders to cancel the trial if you don’t like it.

Both platforms offer more features with higher plans, but Kajabi limits products and users.

Every Kajabi payment plan offers more integrated tools and products than the corresponding Uteach plan. However, Kajabi limits the number of products, customers, and funnels based on your plan. So, you’ll need to upgrade as you grow.

Uteach offers a lot of features but it’s not as robust as Kajabi. In some instances, you need to integrate with third-party products to get similar capabilities. However, Uteach costs a lot less and offers unlimited products and customers.

Winner: Kajabi for creators with few high-ticket digital products and those looking to diversify their offer. Uteach for beginners with a small audience and several low-ticket products.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Course Creation

Kajabi has multiple products but limits them based on your plan, while Uteach focuses on courses and allows unlimited course creation.

Kajabi Uteach
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kajabi goes beyond courses with its diverse product offerings.

Kajabi stands out by offering a range of products.

Beyond courses, it allows users to create podcasts and coaching programs and engage with their audience on a deeper level via communities. Kajabi also has live lesson capabilities built into its coaching program so you can meet coaching clients face-to-face.

On the other hand, Uteach focuses primarily on courses. It also offers live sessions, similar to webinars, if you need a more specialized approach to online education. However, if you want to create podcasts on the side, you’ll need another platform.

Uteach doesn’t limit how many courses you can create.

Uteach allows you to create an unlimited number of courses. It also provides unlimited storage and lets you expand your student base indefinitely.

In contrast, Kajabi‘s product offerings are limited based on your plan. For example, the Basic tier only allows you to have up to 1000 active users and 3 products while the Growth plan increases the numbers to 10000 active members and 15 products.

Kajabi has a decent AI assistant for course creation while Uteach provides demo courses for inspiration.

Kajabi’s AI assistant comes in handy for creating course modules, submodules, and content drafts from scratch. Just don’t rely on it too much. When testing this function, I found the module titles were pretty basic and the actual content was repetitive. Barring those issues, you can actually draw some inspiration from AI when building a new course.

When you open your Uteach dashboard and navigate to courses, you’ll find one or two already-published demo courses. While you can’t necessarily use them to build your product, you can browse through them to get a feel of the course builder. The demos also contain valuable content that you can learn from.

Kajabi’s robust automation capabilities give you complete control of your courses and audience.

Kajabi offers robust automation that allows you to control how courses behave based on user interactions. You can give users certificates, grant them offers, or subscribe them to an email sequence when they finish a lesson. You can also add more conditions for users to meet before getting rewards.

Uteach doesn’t have anything like Kajabi’s automation apart from their email notification system. It does provide quick toggles for enforcing specific watch durations or disabling fast-forwarding, though. These toggles provide some level of control over user behavior within the course, ensuring a consistent learning experience.

Winner: Kajabi. It has decent course creation AI and robust automation capabilities and unlike Uteach, it offers products other than courses like podcasts, membership programs, and communities.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Website Customization

Their website editing options are very similar, but Kajabi offers a few extra features that make it stand out more.

Kajabi Uteach
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kajabi takes a comprehensive website customization approach, while Uteach focuses on element-level editing.

Kajabi groups design elements in the site builder based on their positions. This structure allows users to easily navigate to specific sections, such as the hero or header, to make changes. It resembles the customization screen of platforms like WordPress.

Uteach, on the other hand, treats each element uniquely regardless of its position. For example, to edit the hero image or text you need to click on the specific element and make the desired changes (1). It also has blocks for adding new elements to your design. This editing process reminds me of Elementor’s UI.

While Uteach does offer a layer manager with sections similar to Kajabi, it may feel less integrated into the overall presentation (2).

Both platforms have similar editing capabilities.

Both Kajabi and Uteach provide editing options that’ll allow you to tweak various aspects of your website, including text, images, and backgrounds. You can customize layouts, add or delete elements, tweak colors, and refine the overall appearance of your website to reflect your brand.

Kajabi offers additional customization options and integrations.

Kajabi offers some extra customization features not found in Uteach. For example, you can add custom JavaScript and CSS codes, allowing for advanced design options beyond the built-in tools. On the Pro plan, you can even edit the global code.

Kajabi also supports integration with Disqus, providing a more robust commenting system for enhanced user engagement. Meanwhile, Uteach doesn’t have any similar capabilities.

Kajabi has an all-in-one design tab and Uteach has a segmented approach.

Kajabi consolidates all design-related options into one tab, providing you with a centralized location to tweak various aspects of your website’s appearance. This streamlined approach allows for efficient editing and customization.

Uteach has a main design tab where you can edit the different parts and elements of your pages like Kajabi. However, you need to use different tabs to edit the menu header or change the global colors to match your brand.

Winner: Kajabi has a design layout that’s easier to understand and allows for custom CSS and Javascript addition.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Sales and Marketing

Kajabi has unrivaled automation and email marketing features. Uteach is not as sophisticated but offers way more payment gateways.

Kajabi Uteach
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kajabi has built-in funnels to automate customer journeys while Uteach relies on a Zapier integration.

Kajabi provides a built-in funnel for guiding potential customers toward making purchases. Whether you’re looking to launch a new product, start a coaching program, or give out freebies, it offers pre-built funnels to help you convert leads into buyers. You can also create your own funnels by combining the built-in automation and email features.

Although Uteach lacks native funnel capabilities, it offers the option to connect your QuickFunnels account using Zapier. Of course, you’ll need to have accounts and plans on these platforms.

Kajabi has a comprehensive email marketing tool and Uteach has automated emails.

Email marketing is a staple of every successful business, and Kajabi stands out with its robust features that rival other online course platforms in the market. It allows you to create email funnels and sequences comparable to professional tools like ConvertKit and MailChimp.

Meanwhile, Uteach primarily focuses on pre-built email sequences that provide a time-saving solution, especially for beginners. Although its sequences cover most marketing scenarios, you might find it lacking if you want to implement more advanced strategies. Thankfully, Uteach integrates with MailChimp to address this.

Uteach has way more payment gateways than Kajabi.

Uteach outshines Kajabi when it comes to the number of platforms through which you can get paid. It supports PayPal, Stripe, Razorpay, Paystack, Flutterwave, Adyen, BitPay, and PayU.

Kajabi, on the other hand, offers a more limited selection of payment gateways. In fact, it offers just two options, but they’re the most common ones: PayPal and Stripe.

Winner: Kajabi has robust funnel-building and email marketing capabilities that will delight advanced creators looking for granular control. Uteach offers automated email sequences that are great for beginners.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Analytics and Reporting

Kajabi has robust analytics and reporting built-in, while Uteach requires you to connect to third-party sources.

Kajabi Uteach
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐

Kajabi has comprehensive revenue and metric tracking features built-in.

Kajabi provides detailed information on revenue, offering a daily breakdown of earnings and refunds.

It ranks revenue based on the performance of your products, allowing you to easily identify your best-performing offerings. Aside from revenue, Kajabi tracks subscriptions, page views, form opt-ins, sold offers, and affiliate performance if you have a program set up. You can also monitor the progress customers are making on each of your products.

Uteach lacks a comprehensive analytic section within the platform, providing little to no insights into revenue and financial data. It does let you see your profits and payment history, but there’s not much else.

Both platforms integrate with external analytic tools but Kajabi has data export capabilities.

Uteach allows you to connect your website with Google Search Console and Google Analytics to gather data related to search performance, impressions, and other search-related metrics. Kajabi offers similar integration with Google’s analytics tools, alongside its built-in metrics. Kajabi allows users to download or print their analytic data and work with the data outside of the platform.

Winner: Kajabi tracks pretty much every metric of importance so you rarely need to use external tools. Uteach is quite lacking in the analytics department so you’ll have to rely on external tools.

Kajabi vs Uteach: Ease of Use

Uteach is beginner friendly, while Kajabi’s given freedom to explore may be daunting for new users.

Kajabi Uteach
⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Both platforms are fairly easy to use but Kajabi prioritizes flexibility, while Uteach has a guided progression pattern.

Kajabi gives you the freedom to explore and experiment when creating courses. You can work on different aspects of a course in any order. Of course, Kajabi still offers a setup screen that displays a sense of progression, allowing you to track your completed steps and remaining tasks, but overall, the platform encourages a more open-ended approach.

On the other hand, Uteach prioritizes structured workflows throughout the platform, from setting up your account to creating courses. While there’s some degree of freedom, the flow pattern takes center stage.

Uteach’s info tags are invaluable to anyone using the tool for the first time.

Both platforms try to get you up to speed with their interfaces from the get-go, but Uteach has info tags telling you what every button or toggle does — you can hardly put a foot wrong when using its features.

Kajabi does offer a walk-through video upon sign-up, but you have to search for it if you skip it or need a reminder.

Kajabi University is packed with content to help you succeed.

We’ve been talking about the relative user-friendliness of both platforms. But beyond the UI, Kajabi offers access to Kajabi University which comes in handy for both beginners and advanced users on all plans. It teaches course creation, podcast making, coaching, etc., and covers topics like blogging, SEO, Facebook ads, and much more. It also has online guides and a Facebook community.

Although Uteach doesn’t cover general marketing topics, you get e-guides and the company’s blog content explaining pretty much all the features it has to offer and how you can take advantage of them to create successful courses.

Winner: Kajabi is perfect for creators looking to explore and figure things out on their own, although you can get guidance if you need it. Uteach leans toward creators that prefer a slightly more guided approach.
