On the surface, Kartra and Kajabi are similar SaaS platforms that help you market your content as a digital creator. After comparing and testing them side-by-side, I’ve found that they each approach supporting creators and educators differently.

Kartra is great for creators who need a simple marketing tool to start monetizing their content online. They can use it to build effective sales funnels, exclusive memberships, and host webinars. Nevertheless, Kartra’s scope is somewhat limited in terms of the variety of digital products creators can create on the platform.

Kajabi, on the other hand, stands out as a comprehensive course builder, making it popular among coaches, content creators, and educators with niche knowledge. It’s ideal for experienced creators who want to scale their business by creating, hosting, and marketing their content in diverse digital formats, including podcasts, communities, and courses.

To help you determine which tool fits your creative journey better, we’ll take a closer look at how both platforms perform in the following areas:

  • Digital Products
  • Landing Page & Website Builder
  • Content Monetization
  • Marketing Campaigns
  • Pricing

In the comparison table below, I’ll also highlight each tool’s strengths in social media integration, analytics, and payments.

Now, let’s dive into Kartra vs Kajabi!

What is Kartra?
“The digital marketing guru” 💻📊💵

Kartra was founded in 2016 and has since become an all-in-one marketing platform creators and infopreneurs go to when they want to launch and grow their businesses.

Kartra essentially provides digital creators with the fundamental tools they need to create, market, and scale their online businesses. Kartra offers an extensive template library that creators can choose from when building anything—this includes webinars, landing pages, forms, surveys, memberships, and even a help desk. With that, they create sales campaigns for their products, schedule appointments, produce and host marketing videos, and more.

Kartra is a great fit for creators on their way to becoming infopreneurs who need their marketing and lead generation done on autopilot.

What is Kajabi?
“The course builder fairy for creators” 🧚‍♀️🧠📚

Launched in 2010, Kajabi has grown into an all-in-one online business platform, enabling over 100,000 businesses and creators worldwide to change their own stories.

From course building to marketing and sales, the platform offers everything a course creator might need. It starts with a simple AI-supported course builder that creators can use to turn their knowledge into profitable courses. From there, you can extend your business’ digital product offerings to include coaching, podcasts, memberships, and communities. And for those starting from scratch, the platform offers complete websites with an integrated checkout function—including payment processing and other marketing features like funnels, email marketing, and automations.

Kajabi’s ultimate goal is to help people turn their knowledge into a sustainable online business by diversifying their revenue streams with digital products. It is ideal for experienced digital creators who need new ways to grow their brand and influence.

Kartra vs Kajabi: Digital Products

Kartra focuses on landing pages, membership sites, and webinars, while Kajabi offers more robust digital products, including online courses, podcasts, and coaching.

Kartra Kajabi
⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best suited for building landing pages and membership sites, and hosting webinars and videos. Has more elaborate digital product offerings and advanced course building tools.

In this section, we’ll cover how Kartra and Kajabi equip you to create and manage digital products. We’ll cover:

  • User Interface,
  • Courses,
  • Coaching and Webinars,
  • Membership Sites and Communities,
  • and Podcasts.

A) User Interface: Both platforms have a simple and easy-to-navigate user interface.

Although both platforms have a left menu pane that makes it easy to locate features (1), Kartra’s look feels outdated. When you log in, you’re greeted with a dashboard that provides an overview of key metrics such as traffic & conversions, helpdesk, sales analytics, and subscriptions analytics (3).

You can also hire an expert to set up your account or visit the Kartranaut training portal to learn more (2).

On the other hand, Kajabi has a modern interface with the main menu (1) and the dashboard that gives you access to supporting tools (2). On the dashboard (3), you can access helpful resources like the Kajabi University or join the Kajabi Hero Community on Facebook to network.

Unlike Kartra, which simply gives you a list of all features, Kajabi organizes its features by use case.

As a result, first-time users may need to explore the entire menu to find out what they can do with the platform but this helps lessen the confusion when learning. Kajabi also provides short guides that explain what each feature does, making it easier for the user to adapt.

B) Online Courses: Kajabi offers a more comprehensive course builder than Kartra does.

Some might see Kajabi as a primarily online course platform and we couldn’t blame them.

When building a course on Kajabi, you can choose to build a course from scratch (1), import a template, or choose one from Kajabi’s template marketplace. You can also choose whether it should be paid or free. You can also choose.

Furthermore, Kajabi’s AI Creator Hub allows you to instantly develop course content and outlines with the assistance of AI. Once you’ve put in the basic information, you’ll be prompted to customize the appearance of the course page with a responsive page preview by the side (2).

Within Kajabi courses, you can:

  • create live sessions,
  • build or link communities to individual courses,
  • receive payments via Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal,
  • and integrate content in other formats such as videos, audio, text lessons, quizzes, and surveys.

On the other hand, Kartra doesn’t follow the build-from-scratch method. The platform is designed with product selling in mind, rather than online course building specifically. To start with your course building, you have to add a new product as a main product (1) or as an upsell (2) to clients who have already purchased another product from you.

So before you start selling a course, you’ll have to build a line of products for that service. This may include creating dedicated landing pages, setting up a closed membership, hosting a webinar, or uploading videos. Once done, you can then build a product funnel that integrates all the different offers you have available for that package.

C) Membership Sites and Communities: Kartra has a dedicated membership builder while Kajabi requires multiple assets to build a community or a membership.

Kartra’s membership builder is broken into easy-to-follow customization steps. You can also visit the campaign marketplace to search for free or paid templates to make it even easier. However, importing these into your account can sometimes be tricky.

Some general capabilities that Kartra’s membership dashboard has, enable you to:

  • host multiple membership communities with one login,
  • create different tiers of membership,
  • manage subscriptions or offer free memberships,
  • share videos and written content on a schedule,
  • engage community members via a comment section,
  • moderate, approve content, and assign admin members moderation controls,
  • and automate renewals and provide special offers.

Kartra’s media feature serves as an alternative to YouTube and can host all your videos, images, audio, and files in one place.

It has a lot of in-house customization features. For example, you can add call-to-actions in each video, customize fonts and branding elements, and tag leads to perform a certain action based on the triggers you set.

Additionally, you can:

  • host & stream unlimited videos,
  • integrate videos within other courses,
  • watermark your videos with custom branding,
  • add subtitles and create playlists,
  • create custom tags for viewers,
  • and generate a shareable link for individual media content.

Building a membership on Kajabi is similar to building a course on Kartra — you have to fiddle around with different elements before you can set them up. For example, you’d have to build a unique Kajabi course or a website and lock parts of it behind a paywall to make a membership. Only then will members who fit a specific tag have access to the exclusive content.

Additionally, you can use Kajabi’s Community feature to create a dedicated community for specific courses and interact with members who have paid for the course (1). When building a community page, you can also see a real-time preview of what it’ll look like before you publish it (2).

Although Kajabi’s community builder offers few customization options, it allows you to:

  • host live calls or video sessions,
  • run community challenges, leaderboards, and ambassadors programs,
  • manage real-time chat with community members,
  • and integrate community pages into your website.

D) Coaching and Webinars: Kartra’s webinar builder and Kajabi’s coaching feature perform similar roles: they allow you to host a paid class.

Kartra’s webinar feature also offers three types of webinar formats: live webinars, always-on rooms, or scheduled webinars. You can also use Kartra’s agenda page to manage all scheduled and upcoming webinars you’ve developed.

The builder is straightforward and offers two types of configurations: a basic configuration if you want a simple template or an advanced configuration if you need more customization (1, 2, 3).

Some additional functionalities in Kartra’s webinar builder, enable you to:

  • run polls and surveys,
  • build behavior-based automations and multiple trigger rules,
  • allow attendees to speak and use an on-screen whiteboard,
  • share in-presentation resources,
  • and create flexible event types and custom email lists.

Unfortunately, Kartra’s membership and webinar pages do not have a preview dashboard you can use to visualize your work — you only get this preview from the media developer.

Using Kajabi’s Coaching feature, you get an overview of all sessions, programs, and clients in your business.

When building a session, you can use the Kajabi scheduler (1) to set up bookings or connect other third-party calendars like Google Calendar, Calendly, Office 365 Calendars, or Outlook for accurate bookings. Furthermore, you can customize the webinar location and even decide how long each session lasts (2, 3).

Furthermore, Kajabi allows you to:

  • create and manage different coaching programs
  • schedule meetings with clients via a third-party calendar or a custom link,
  • host live calls and video content using Kajabi video,
  • include files and links to support materials,
  • and end follow-up emails to clients.

E) Podcasts: Only Kajabi allows creators to host a podcast show on their account.

Creators expand their digital products by using Kajabi to set up free or paid podcasts that their audience will love. The podcast builder is quite intuitive and you can manage multiple podcasts from one dashboard.

However, each additional podcast will count towards the product quota on your account — so adding another podcast will reduce how many products you can add from other features.

Additionally, you can:

  • publish your podcast on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify,
  • create a members-only podcast for more exclusive content,
  • and disable downloadable episodes.

Although Katra has a 30-day free trial period, it doesn’t allow you to get the full experience. You won’t be able to publish a membership or webinar, and you may face some restrictions when setting up other features.

On the other hand, Kajabi’s 14-day free trial allows you to create and publish all courses before your first payment cycle. And, if you go through our affiliate link, you get a whole 30-day free trial! 😉

Winner: Kajabi offers a wider digital product line than Kartra. This makes it easier for educators, creators, and entrepreneurs to share their knowledge in a format that they’re most comfortable with. Build your brand with Kajabi today!

Kartra vs Kajabi: Landing Page & Website Builder

Kartra’s page builder offers more customization and integrations than Kajabi.

Kartra Kajabi
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐
Offers more templates, custom features, and integrations. Great for building simple landing pages.

Kartra has more elaborate and responsive website templates while Kajabi uses AI to generate quick guides.

Kartra’s page builder has a dashboard that gives you an overview of all the websites and landing pages attached to your account.

You will find more than 250 templates (2), which you can narrow down to choose from by filtering on page type and theme color (1). This filter is auto-responsive — when you pick a template, you automatically get to see how many colors that template exists in and vice versa.

What’s more, you can also build a website from scratch, create custom domains, and sell other digital or physical products on your page.

Kajabi doesn’t have all its website building features in one place (1, 2), hence, it requires more time to learn how to use the elements.

Although Kajabi has a more modern look, Kartra might be a better option if you’d like to customize every aspect of your website. Kajabi makes up for this with its AI content assistant, Ama (3). At every stage of the website-building stage, you can easily use Ama to generate ideas and content copies.

Furthermore, educators can use Kajabi’s AI assistant to speed up their course creation process. The platform offers three AI assistants:

  • AI video repurposing software: With a single video, you can generate over 40+ marketing assets such as emails, blogs, social media posts, and mini-courses. However, you can only use it once every month. Regardless, it’s included in all Kajabi subscription tiers.

  • AI Course Creator: Kajabi’s AI can also create course outlines depending on the topic and description you submit (1, 2). You can easily access the AI support tool at the top right corner of all the pages, making it easy for you to access the support tool when you need it.

  • AI copy assistant: This chatbox helps you create copies based on the prompt you feed it. You can create captions, descriptions, and scripts, and provide answers to questions you may have.

Kartra’s pages are very responsive and mobile-friendly. You can easily build your website using the drag & drop feature (1, 2) and manage how each element connects with the next (3).

On the other hand, Kajabi’s customization is limited and is not as intuitive as Kartra. To customize a page, you have to move the elements on the left menu up and down, depending on the order you want them in (1, 2). Furthermore, you can only perform basic customization like changing the font, background media, alignment, and layout.

Both Kajabi and Kartra offer page previews on the desktop, tablet, and mobile frames — making it easier for you to visualize as you build. What makes Kartra stand out is that you get notified about assets on the page that haven’t been customized yet.

Additionally, both platforms allow you to:

  • host your website or link an external domain,
  • add pop-ups based on different triggers,
  • perform split testing,
  • include action buttons at different points,
  • build streamlined checkout pages and unlimited landing pages,
  • and integrate a form or quiz page into your landing page.

What Kajabi lacks in page customization, it makes up for in blog builders and widget integration.

You can use Kajabi to create a simple blog page (1) and include basic SEO elements (2, 3) to help it rank on search engines. It’s easy to incorporate a video or audio into your Kajabi blog, making it easier to create engaging posts.

Kajabi’s widget allows you to create custom social feeds. Not only does this social feed add creativity to your website, but you can also use this simulated feed to keep clients on your page.

Kajabi’s social enrichment tool pulls content directly from your social media page, so you never have to worry about setting up too much.

What’s more, Kajabi’s Mobile App makes it easier for online course creators to maintain contact with their audience. Because Kajabi’s website builder allows you to integrate other digital products, you can easily create mobile-friendly classes your clients can use, anytime, anywhere.

Winner: Kartra wins because its website builder offers more features, integrations, and templates than Kajabi. Kartra is a great fit for content creators and educators who need to build detailed landing pages for specific products. However, you can use Kajabi if you just need to set up a quick, simple landing page. Build your next landing page with Katra today!

Kartra vs Kajabi: Content Monetization

Kajabi offers flexible payment methods while Kartra allows you to build dedicated checkout pages.

Kartra Kajabi
⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best suited for creating dedicated sales pages. Offers more flexible payment-collection channels.

Although Kartra can build custom checkout pages, Kajabi offers better payment options.

If you want to build custom checkout pages for your services, Kartra is a better option.

With Kartra, you can create sales funnels and email marketing campaigns that help you monetize your content. For example, you can build different subscription tiers and allow customers to pay installmentally — from one-time purchases and installment plans to subscription-based services.

What’s more, you can also use it to design an eCommerce website with a checkout feature (1). This all-inclusive shopping site allows you to collect payment via credit card or PayPal (2), although these options are limited when compared to Kajabi’s payment system.

Kartra’s cart abandonment tagging helps creators retarget customers who haven’t made a purchase. You can send custom reminders, trigger cart campaigns, and manage all tags from a central dashboard.

Furthermore, creators can set up special promotions, offer discount coupons, run targeted promotions for specific customers, and build promotion funnels that push leads to convert.

Kajabi offers a more robust payment collection system.

With Kajabi, you can receive payments via Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, debit card, and credit card. The platform, however, charges an industry-standard processing fee (2.9% + 30 cents) per transaction.

Additionally, you can generate receipts, manage refunds, pause/cancel subscriptions, and offer a buy-now-pay-later payment plan using Afterpay.

Although both platforms can automatically calculate sales tax, Kartra’s calculation adapts to geolocation rates.

Kartra’s checkout page can recognize the client’s location and pre-calculate the shipping costs using the sales tax for that region. Furthermore, there are translations in 12 languages and the payment processor supports over 20 currencies.

You also can add product variations and automate the delivery process by forwarding the order details to the next processing stage (delivery manager, fulfillment house, or warehouse).

Kartra even allows you to offer customer support services by integrating the helpdesk feature into your checkout page. This makes it easier for creators to connect with potential customers and increase conversion rates.

Kajabi’s affiliate program offers educators more control over their affiliate programs.

With both platforms, you can:

  • build and run an affiliate program,
  • set up opt-in forms and choose affiliate partners,
  • manage affiliate links and analytics (2),
  • and create multiple commission tiers for your affiliate program (3).

However, Kajabi allows you to manage affiliate accounts via coupons and links, override affiliate percentages, create personalized coupon codes, and create custom affiliate emails (1).

On Kajabi, you can also make additional revenue by signing up with Kajabi’s affiliate marketing community. Within this community, you can participate in monthly challenges and get paid bonuses. Additionally, you get access to community support and networking opportunities with other professionals.

Winner: Kajabi wins when it comes to monetization. Although Kartra was built specifically for sales, Kajabi has more flexible payment options, making it easier for you to charge and receive payments for your services. Kajabi’s affiliate program also affords you more control over your affiliate programs and offers a buy-now-pay-later payment model. Start getting paid for your courses today!

Kartra vs Kajabi: Marketing Campaigns

Kartra offers more campaign templates and customizations than Kajabi.

Kartra Kajabi
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐
Suitable for extensive and granular business analytics. Offers simple, analytics dashboards and funnel builders.

Kartra offers extensive marketing campaign templates that creators can customize.

Kartra has an extensive email marketing campaign builder with custom triggers for building automated emails. Furthermore, you can conduct A/B testing to determine which email templates and offers work best in converting customers.

To create an email campaign, simply go to the campaigns page and select a free or paid template to implement (1, 2). Unfortunately, you may not be able to see a preview of the template before importing it into your Kartra campaign page.

Once the campaign is set up, you can customize the flow to include free and paid traffic generators, auto-responses, SMS push notifications, and multimedia content.

The simple drag-and-drop editor makes it easy for you to visualize, connect, and edit flows as well. Once done, you can set a funnel live by going to the simulation page and setting it live.

Kartra’s Calendar feature is capable of creating free and paid appointments, setting up reminders, and delivering notifications. You also have access to a centralized dashboard where you can manage all appointments and customize different calendar models to suit your business.

Kajabi offers simple marketing tools like email broadcasts and sequences.

Kajabi’s marketing features allow you to create intricate awareness and conversion campaigns (1, 2) based on your current marketing needs. Furthermore, you can create:

  • funnels to automate the customer’s journey,
  • email marketing features like broadcasts and sequences for different audiences,
  • forms to capture important client data,
  • events to help you deliver valuable content,
  • and standalone landing pages for unique campaigns.

Both platforms offer real-time analytics insight, but Kartra provides more custom measurements.

On every Kartra product, you can easily access the analytics dashboard at the top page and collate an overview of important metrics such as CTA insights for videos, customer lifetime value, and average retention margins.

In Kajabi, you’d have to check each product to access the analytics page. From the market dashboard, you can create funnels, rebuild frameworks for lead generation, launch products, or connect different sales and marketing channels together.

Winner: Use Kartra to build extensive funnels and marketing campaigns. You have access to over 450 free and paid templates to choose from. Kartra also offers more granular reporting and measurements than Kajabi. Scale your business growth with Kartra’s marketing funnels today!

Karta and Kajabi offer free trials, but Kartra enables it for longer.

Katra offers a 30-day free trial that gives the user access to all features within the platform.

Although you can publish an unlimited number of forms and landing pages, there are some restrictions. For example, you’re unable to create and publish memberships and webinars.

Although Kajabi’s free trial lasts only 14 days, it gives the user access to every feature available within the platform. And with our affiliate link, you can extend the trial to a full 30 days! 😉

You can easily build and host your courses, publish your websites, set up marketing funnels, and manage your contacts. The only restriction is that you can only create a total of 15 products during this period.
